Sophomore defenseman
Janis Jaks of the American International College ice hockey team was named to the 2017-18 Atlantic Hockey Third Team All-Conference,
the league announced on Thursday, March 8.
Jaks was AIC's second-leading scorer during the 2017-18 regular season, with 19 points off of seven goals and 12 assists. He had the most points of any European player in Atlantic Hockey.
The Lecava, Latvia native anchored an improved defensive effort for the Yellow Jackets in 2017-18; he appeared in 32 of AIC's 34 contests on defense, helping AIC drop its opponents' shots-on-goal average from 31.6 shots on goal per game in 2016-17 to 26.8 this season. He added in 30 blocked shots.
In the postseason, Jaks has notched three assists in two games so far.

Brennan Kapcheck were named to the conference's
All-Rookie Team on Monday, March 5. This marks the first season since 2000-01 that AIC has had three All-Conference selections.
AIC continues its postseason run with
a quarterfinal matchup against Canisius College, a best-of-three series set to begin on Friday, March 9.
