No. 11 Pace powers past women's lacrosse

PLEASANTVILLE, New York The American International College women's lacrosse team absorbed a 16-5 loss at the hands of No. 11 Pace University in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Saturday, March 31.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Early on, it seemed as if the game would be a stalemate; though Angela Kelly scored just 56 seconds into the game, freshman attacker Devin Coulter had a response at the 2:28 mark, and the game remained 1-1 through the first seven minutes.
  • The Setters broke the deadlock at the 7:20 mark, and the floodgates opened from there for the national No. 11; they would score the final 12 goals of the half to take a 13-1 lead into the break.
  • The second half was much more measured in terms of goal scoring; the Yellow Jackets outscored the hosts 4-3, with a goal by freshman attacker Brianna O'Brien, two by senior attacker Brittany Hutchison that were set up by junior midfielder Lauren Witherspoon, and an unassisted goal from junior midfielder Mikayla Demanche that rounded out the scoring in the 16-5 final.
