SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College softball team hosted Adelphi University in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 31. The Yellow Jackets dropped both games in five innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- Adelphi got on the board first by scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. The Panthers were able to increase their lead by adding two more runs in the top of the second to hold a 4-0 lead.
- After Kailah Konkel drew a walk in the top of the third, Emily Turney homered to left field to extend the advantage to 6-0.
- Adelphi secured the victory by pushing two more runs across followed by a one-two-three inning in the bottom of the fifth.
Game 2:
- Once again, the Panthers wasted no time, as they scored in the first inning. After a double from Nicoletta Cuccio, Brenna Martini belted a two-run homer to go up 2-0.
- In the top of the second, Adelphi added two runs, followed by three more runs in the third inning, to build a 7-0 cushion.
- In the top of the fifth, the Panthers continued to increase their lead by erupting with five runs. In the bottom half of the inning, the Yellow Jackets were able to break the shutout, scoring three runs. Graduate student Yami Lopez-Perez singled to score junior outfielder Hughes, followed by a double from senior catcher Jamie Mainez that brought in Lopez-Perez. Three batters later, a single from sophomore infielder Jess Lingenberg scored Mainez and gave AIC its third run.

- AIC breaks from NE10 play to battle Caldwell in a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 4, with the first pitch of game one scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Judy Groff Field.
