HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- The Yellow Jackets got their lone hit of the game in the top of the second inning when Alexa DiLeo singled to first base.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Hawks found their way onto the board on a bases-loaded walk.
- One inning later, Saint Anselm went deep for a two-run home run to make it a 3-0 game, which would be the final score.
Game 2:
- The Hawks struck early in the second game. In the bottom of the first, Saint Anselm went deep for a solo home run.
- Saint Anselm struck again in the bottom of the fourth, scoring two runs on three hits and an AIC error to make it a 4-0 game after four. In the fifth, the Hawks would add one more to put the Yellow Jackets down by five.
- The Yellow Jackets fought back in the top of the sixth. Junior Ashley Hughes started things off with a double to right field and then stole third. Freshman Oliva Ortega then grounded out to the pitcher who threw to first, trading a run for an out. AIC then use back-to-back-to-back singles by seniors Yami Lopez-Perez, Jamie Mainez, and DiLeo to load the bases. A walk by junior Kayla Riley allowed another run to come in and make it a 5-2 game. Freshman Brittany Guzman came up to the plate and doubled to left center to tie the game up at five-all.
- The Hawks scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to give them the 7-5 lead, and held on to win by that margin.
UP NEXT:
- AIC will head to Syracuse for a doubleheader against the Dolphins of Le Moyne on April 11. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
