LAST TIME OUT:
- AIC had its largest margin of victory in a single game since 2001, posting a 16-2 win over the Greyhounds at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Massachusetts on Monday, March 19.
- Five players had multi-hit days: sophomore third baseman Matt Costanza (2-for-5, two doubles), sophomore right fielder Matt Krause (4-for-7, three RBI), redshirt junior left fielder Reed Phillips (2-for-4), redshirt sophomore Andrew Ciacciarelli (4-for-5, five RBI) and freshman second baseman Angel Mendez (3-for-5, two RBI).
- While the Yellow Jackets bats went to work, redshirt junior pitcher Nick Kennedy was dealing on the mound as well, pitching five shutout innings before giving up just two runs in the bottom of the sixth. He went seven innings, recording five strikeouts.
- Stonehill has been stagnant since a Florida game against Caldwell University - a 4-3 win - on March 11, with three games in New England postponed.
- Sunday's games will also be Bentley's first back in New England. The Falcons last played four games against the University of Bridgeport between March 16 and 18, splitting the series.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
- AIC and Stonehill have not met since 2016, as a 2017 contest between the two teams was canceled. The Skyhawks swept a doubleheader on April 9 of that year, with two tight final results of 10-9 and 2-0.
- The Yellow Jackets also traveled to Bentley the following day in 2016, with a similar fate - the Falcons won both games of the doubleheader, 5-3 and 10-9.
BUZZWORTHY:
- After a 4-for-5 day against Assumption on Monday, Ciacciarelli's batting average has improved to .415, which ranks fourth in the NE10.
- With an 8-6 start to begin the season, AIC is having its best start to a seasonsince 2013, when the Yellow Jackets also began 8-6.
- Though AIC has played just two games at home so far this season, the Yellow Jackets are 2-0 this season on their home field after a season-opening sweep of Saint Michael's. A year ago, AIC also had a winning recordat home, with an 11-8 mark at Bedard Field.
COACH'S CORNER:
- "I don't really go back and look at that, really I don't check stats that much for us," said AIC baseball head coach Nick Callini about his team's start folliwng the victory over Assumption on Monday. "My main concern is more what we're doing currently. But this is a great start. We've talked to this team about how it's a progression. We're not a finished product. We're not going to be a finished product all season. We're just trying to take each day and try to get better each time that we get out there, play cleaner baseball, play better baseball, and continue to improve."
PLAYER'S CORNER:
- "I think this team is very passionate," Ciacciarelli said following his team's win over Assumption on Monday. "Our confidence has been really high as of late. Ever since we got here in the fall, everybody wants to win and everyone's been on the same page."
