WEST PALM BEACH, Florida - The American International College baseball team fell to No. 24 Palm Beach Atlantic University, 13-6, on Wednesday, March 14.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After two scoreless innings, Palm Beach Atlantic struck first, with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third.
- Junior designated Matthew Elliott had a two-run home run to tie up the game, 2-2, in the top of the fourth. However, the Sailfish took a four-run lead, going up 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
- AIC added another run in the top of the fifth; redshirt junior left fielder Reed Phillips notched an RBI single to bring junior center fielder Josh Aviles across home plate.
- Palm Beach Atlantic added two runs in the bottom of the fifth and put up a four-spot in the seventh to extend its lead to 12-3.
- The Yellow Jackets began to chip away in the top of the eighth; starting with a triple from Phillips, who was later brought in by an RBI single from freshman catcher Ian O'Brien. AIC would ultimately load the bases, with redshirt sophomore first baseman Andrew Ciacciarelli being hit by a pitch and Elliott reaching base on a walk. Freshman second baseman Angel Mendez walked in a run, and then junior shortstop Brendan Carter walked in another, bringing AIC within 12-6.
- Palm Beach Atlantic added a solo homer in the eighth to push the lead out to 13-6.
BUZZWORTHY:
- Sophomore third baseman Matt Costanza now has four multi-hit games, including two in his past two games.
- Phillips also has posted four multi-hit games this season. He has already hit three triples this season; AIC hit just 10 triples as a team a season ago, with now-sophomore Matt Krause leading the team with four.

- AIC will face a local foe down south, with a doubleheader against Post University set to begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 15.
