Men's basketball falls to Saint Rose

ALBANY, New York - The American International College men's basketball fell on the road to the College of Saint Rose by a score of 83-67 on Thursday, February 8.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Freshman guard Xion Golding started the game off with a three to give the Yellow Jackets the 3-0 lead. Saint Rose answered back with a two to make it 3-2. The Golden Knights would take their first lead of the game at the 12:44 mark on a layup to make it a 10-9 game.
  • The two battled back and forth trading baskets until the 7:26 mark of the first half when the Golden Knights started a run. The 9-0 run last over three minutes and was broken by a free throw by freshman guard Adonis Williams. The Golden Knights continued to pull away over the last four minutes as they went into the half up 40-27.
  • The Golden Knights came out of the half locked in as they started the half with a 15-2 run and made it a 55-32 game with 13:14 left in the contest.
  • The Yellow Jackets tried to chip away with two small runs, but the Golden Knights kept knocking down shots and playing solid defense on AIC as they took the game 83-67.

GAME NOTES:
  • Williams' 27 points against the Golden Knights is a new career high. His previous career high came against Adelphi University back on December 9, when he scored 22.
  • For the third time this season, William led the team in scoring. The last time he led the team was against Pace back on January 31 in a 66-61 loss.
  • Golding found his scoring touch against the Golden Knights. After scoring five or fewer points in his last seven games, Golding hit double-digits with 13 points. His eight rebounds is also a career record for the freshman.

  • AIC will face the Golden Knights once again on Wednesday, February 14 in Springfield at Butova Gym.
