Hutchison's 2nd straight hat trick not enough for women's lacrosse against Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, New York - Senior attacker Brittany Hutchison opened the scoring and netted a hat trick, but the American International College women's lacrosse team fell 21-5 to the defending national champion Adelphi Panthers on Wednesday, February 28.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • AIC opened the scoring after winning the first draw control of the game, as Hutchison snapped home a goal at the 24 second mark.
  • The Panthers quickly responded, scoring twice in the next minute to take the lead, and then built up to a 9-1 lead before Hutchison scored her second of the game at 17:30.
  • The teams then traded goals, with the Panthers regaining the eight-goal edge but Hutchison capping the hat trick on a free-position shot at 21:45.
  • Adelphi would run up the lead to 14-3 before the half.
  • In the second half, AIC saw two goals from rookies, as attackers Emilee Giacondino and Devin Coulter each scored, but Adelphi earned the 21-5 victory.

BUZZWORTHY:
  • Hutchison's opening goal marked the first time ever that the Yellow Jackets had a lead against the Panthers.
