HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- The Chargers wasted no time to get on the board. With the bases loaded and two outs, Jillian Regan singled to left field and pushed two runs in. The next two Chargers each drove in a run and gave them the 4-0 lead after a half of an inning.
- AIC found its first hit in the second inning. With junior Kaley Kempf on second and senior Alexa DiLeo on first, both runners were able to advance two bases on an error by the Charger catcher as the Yellow Jackets made it a 4-1 game.
- The Chargers struck back in the top of the third with five runs on six hits to take the 9-1 lead.
- With freshman Bonnie Kennedy on after a sacrifice bunt by graduate student Yami Lopez-Perez, junior Kayla Riley hit a shot through the left side to score Kennedy.
- Dominican took advantage of some AIC errors in the top of the fifth to score one run and make it a 10-2 game.
- With two outs in the bottom of the fifth, the Yellow Jackets made a push to stay in the game. Junior Ashley Hughes was on second when Lopez-Perez knocked a single to right field and Hughes touched the plate. Riley then doubled to left but was thrown out at third after Lopez-Perez crossed the plate to make it 10-4. That's the closest that they would get as the Chargers took the game, 10-4.
Game 2:
- It was the second inning of the second game when the Chargers got on the board. Dominican put up three runs on two hits while making use of an AIC error to make it a 3-0 game.
- The Chargers went on to add another run on a solo home run in the bottom of the third.
- In the fourth inning, the Chargers added three more runs on four hits and one AIC error to make it 7-0.
- The top of the sixth was the best inning for the Yellow Jackets in the second game. With junior Lydia DePina on second, freshman Brittany Guzman doubled to left and DePina turned around third and scored the first AIC run of the game. Two batters later, DiCioccio singled through the left side to score Guzman and made it a 7-2 game, which would end up being the final.
