NEW HAVEN, Connecticut - The American International College women's basketball team traveled to the on the University of New Haven, and in a tight game, AIC fell 73-61.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Yellow Jackets started off hot, as they scored the first four points of the game and held the Chargers to no points in the first two minutes of the game. The Chargers then scored seven straight points to take the lead. With 2:44 left in the opening quarter, junior guard Dominique Boyd stole the ball and laid one in on the fast break to snap the 7-0 run. After the first quarter, the Yellow Jackets led 15-13.
- In the second quarter, the teams started off by trading points before the Chargers came back to tie it at 19 with a little under seven minutes on the clock. Over the next few minutes, they went on a 6-0 run before junior forward Dana Watts knocked down a triple to cut the AIC deficit down to three.
- With two minutes left in the first, the Yellow Jackets were trailing by two when the Chargers went on a 4-0 run to take the 32-36 lead into the locker room.
- Before the Yellow Jackets even had the ball, Watts picked up a foul and the Chargers made a free throw to start the scoring in the second half. With under four minutes left in the quarter, the Chargers took the first double-digit lead of the game at 41-30. Sophomore guard Rashana Siders' three with 26 seconds left help AIC cut their deficit down to six at the break, 45-39.
- Watts opened the scoring in the fourth quarter, bringing the AIC deficit down to four. With 5:43 left, the Chargers' lead had grown to 10 points, 53-43. The Yellow Jackets tried to battle their way back in and keep their playoff hopes alive, but the Chargers hit big shots and knocked down their free throws to take the game, 73-61.
GAME NOTES:
- Watts started the season in 19thplace in scoring in program history. She has moved into fourth place, with 1,545, after scoring 23 points against Saint Rose to pass her coach,Kristen Hutchison. Prior to the Saint Rose, Watts was 17 points behind Hutchison. Watts now trails Tonia McCown by six points for third place.
- Junior guard Alyssa Guyon has now scored in double figures in 20 games this season, and also posted her eighth straight game in double figures.
- Watts has also moved into fifth place in program history in rebounds with 836. She passed Rhea Pascal against Saint Rose and is just three rebounds away from passing Antoinette Clark, at 839, for fourth place.
