GARDEN CITY, New York - The American International College women's basketball team rounded out their season in Garden City, New York, against the Panthers of Adelphi. The Yellow Jackets fell 73-61 to their rivals on Tuesday, February 20.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Panthers kicked off their senior night game by taking the 2-0 lead just 14 seconds into the game. The Yellow Jackets answered with back-to-back jumpers by sophomore guard Rashana Siders and junior guard Alyssa Guyon, to give them the 4-2 lead. Down 6-4 the Yellow Jackets went on an 11-0 run over the next four minutes to take the 15-6 lead. After 10 minutes of play, the Yellow Jackets led 19-10.
- Adelphi took control in the second quarter as they opened the quarter on a 14-2 run over the first five minutes of play as they took the 24-21 lead. The Yellow Jackets stopped the run and tied the game at 24 with 3:27 left in the first half. The Panthers would then take the one-point lead, 29-28 lead at the break.
- It was the third quarter that really allowed the Panthers to start to pull away. The Yellow Jackets started the quarter by taking the 39-34 lead over the first four minutes. The Panthers then took scoring opportunities when they had the ball and locked in on defense to take a 16-0 run over four minutes to give them the 50-39 lead with just 11:31 left in the game. After three, the Panthers had a 53-46 lead.
- In the first three minutes of the fourth, AIC found a way to cut their deficit down to four on a Dana Watts layup. However, the Panthers' 16-0 run in the third quarter proved to be too much for AIC and the Panthers took the game 73-61.
GAME NOTES:
- Watts started the season in 19thplace in scoring in program history. With her 23 points against Adelphi, Watts has now passed Tonia McCown for third place in program history.
- Junior guard Alyssa Guyon has now scored in double figures in 21 games this season, and also posted her ninth straight game in double figures.
- Watts has also moved into fourth place in program history in rebounds with 845. She passed Rhea Pascal against Saint Rose, and then passed Antoinette Clark, at 839, for fourth place against Adelphi.
