NEW HAVEN, Connecticut - The American International College men's basketball team suffered a 98-48 defeat on the road against the University of New Haven on Saturday, February 17.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After freshman guard Xion Golding made a layup to tie the game up at 4-4 at the 16:21 mark of the first half, the Chargers would go on an 18-0 run in the span of 4:19 to take a commanding 22-4 lead. With 8:31 left before halftime, freshman forward Robert Durant connected on a layup in the paint to bring the Yellow Jackets within 13 points of the New Haven lead.
- Minutes later, at the 5:54 mark of the half, Durant converted on another layup to make it 29-12 Chargers. Despite that, Derrick Rowland would drain a three-pointer on the next possession to give New Haven a 32-12 cushion. In the final 5:35 of the first half, the Chargers would go on a 13-4 run in order to have a 45-16 advantage going into the break.
- Although senior forward Tahlib Swan's layup would give AIC the first field goal of the second half, New Haven would drain three straight shots from beyond the arc to have a 54-18 lead with 18:23 left in the game. At the 14:36 mark of the contest, the Chargers would build a 42-point lead after a triple from Danny Upchurch.
- With under eight minutes left under regulation, the Yellow Jackets got back-to-back layups from Durant and Swan to make it 78-37 New Haven. Michael Bourke would connect on a three with just 54 ticks left in regulation to give the Chargers a 96-45 lead. AIC would go on to fall by a score of 98-48.
GAME NOTES:
- Durant has now scored in double figures in 11 of the 26 games he's played in this season.
- The loss on Saturday marks the first time since the 2013-14 season that the Yellow Jackets have suffered a loss of 50 points or more. AIC lost 98-47 to Saint Anselm College on February 1, 2014.
- AIC had a season-low in rebounds with 22.
- The Yellow Jackets did have five steals against the Chargers, which marks the 15th time they've had five or more steals in a game this season.

- AIC will finish off regular-season play when they travel to Garden City, N.Y. on Tuesday, February 20 to take on Adelphi University at 7:30 p.m. The winner will earn the final spot in the Southwest Division for the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs.
