COACH'S NOTES:
- "Taylor and Ceci rallied back at No. 2 doubles today to pull out a personal 6-4 win, having been down 3-4 at the mid-point changeover," said AIC head tennis coach Loni Hammons. "Though we lost the team point to Bentley after dropping at No. 1 and 3 doubles, the playing at all three courts was competitive, and we made a solid showing."
- "In singles action, Meritxell Jimeno was able to pull out a win personally and for the team in two sets, 6-4, 6-2 over Hannah Fabianski from Bentley," Hammons said."While Taylor Pankewicz had a strong showing at No. 4 singles today, she ultimately dropped the match 3-6, 3-6 to Bentley's Morgan Kreiss. We did have to default at the No. 6 singles spot today with injury, but outside of that, four of our five singles players were able to put games up on the board in both sets."
- "Again, as I have mentioned before, the scoring doesn't really reflect the effort or level of play that the women are putting in each match," Hammons added. "We are young and still working through a lot of those nerves that come with your first conference season. Jumping right into a season involving a lot of travel with our off-campus practice and match play is definitely an adjustment, and the women are doing all they can to make the changes necessary to succeed in the upcoming years. We've worked on getting some of our matches cast live through our Facebook page, which has allowed all of our players from far away to have their family and friends be part of their matches as well as the team. I think this year has started a very positive foundation for our team as a whole. Four of our six players experienced personal wins this season, which is great, because we knew we were starting from behind. We will continue to train, improve and recruit to grow our team in depth and number, so the wins as a team will come in time."
