Women's soccer falls to Assumption in NE10 action

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College women's soccer team fell short to Assumption College, 2-1, in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday, October 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Yellow Jackets were aggressive during the first half, finishing with 12 shots. Of those 12 shots, four found the goalkeeper Alexis Nason, but none of the shots were able to get past her.
  • In the 34th minute, the Greyhounds led the match 1-0 after a goal from junior defender Alexis Stowell.
  • The score remained the same until the 88th minute, when senior forward Kallie Villemaire scored her 10th goal of the season to give Assumption a 2-0 lead.
  • Nason was solid throughout the game, allowing only one goal that came in the 88th minute from AIC senior midfielder Federica Frew. That goal would not be enough, however, as Assumption would defeat the Yellow Jackets, 2-1.


BUZZWORTHY:

  • The Yellow Jackets outshot the Greyhounds 28-5, including 14-3 in shots on goal, during Saturday night's contest.

  • The Yellow Jackets will remain at home as they take on the University of New Haven on Tuesday, October 16 at 7 p.m.
