WORCESTER, Massachusetts - The American International College women's basketball team fell in its road trip opener to the Greyhounds of Assumption, 70-52, in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Wednesday, January 17.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On the first Yellow Jacket possession, Rashana Siders laid the ball in to open the scoring for both teams. Assumption then came down and hit a deep ball to take their first lead of the game, 3-2. With 3:37 left in the opening quarter, the Greyhounds started an 11-1 run to end the quarter and take the lead to 21-8 after 10 minutes.
- Their run extended into the second quarter as two Greyhound layups forced coach Kristen Hutchinson to call a timeout as AIC trailed 25-8. Nyrie Holliman made two free throws at the 7:11 mark to score the first points of the quarter for the Yellow Jackets. From 9:07 until 1:51, neither team was able to knock down a field goal. Watts broke that up with a layup off an offensive rebound. Assumption hit their next shot and took the 29-14 lead into the half.
- The two teams traded baskets in the open minutes of the second half as the Greyhounds had the 33-18 lead at the 7:50 mark. The Greyhounds held the Yellow Jackets scoreless for the next two minutes until Alyssa Guyon put the ball in the hoop from close range on a pass from Dominique Boyd. In the last 3:18, the Yellow Jackets made a small push and made it a 48-32 game at the end of the third.
- AIC kept trying to cut the deficit, but the Greyhounds sprinted away with the game by a score of 70-52.
GAME NOTES:
- For the 13th time this season, Watts has scored 21+ points, the best on the team.
- Watts has scored in double-digits in 14 straight games in which she has played 26 or more minutes.
- The Yellow Jackets have recorded multiple blocks in nine straight games.
- The Yellow Jackets had their worst shooting night of the season from deep. AIC went 1-13, a shooting percentage of 7.7.
