MATCH NOTES:
- Originally scheduled to be played at the Forest Park Tennis Courts in Springfield, the match was played indoors due to rain at the Enfield Tennis Club in Enfield, Connecticut.
- Sunday's match was AIC coach Loni Hammons' first competition as head coach of the AIC women's tennis program.
- As just a freshman, Jimeno-Vicente's wins in singles and doubles came in her collegiate debut.
- McLean's wins at doubles is the fourth doubles victory of her AIC career. McLean was an NE10 All-Rookie selection in 2016.
COACH'S CORNER:
- "Daemen had a solid team that defended really well, and they definitely highlighted where we need to become stronger throughout our lineup," Hammons said. "Our number-one doubles team has a lot of potential, so a win for them today is great going into the season as new partners. We are a young team with a lot of potential, and I was really pleased with the support the team showed for one another and the way they represented AIC. Today was a good chance for me to observe my players under pressure and for the team to work out those 'first match jitters.' We will continue working hard and learning from each match as the season progresses."
NEXT UP:
- The Yellow Jackets host their first conference matchup of the year, against Southern New Hampshire University, on Saturday, September 9 at 12 p.m.
- Should the weather hold, Saturday's match will be AIC's season debut at the Forest Park Tennis Courts.
