LAST TIME OUT: Kevin Papineau scored twice, but the Yellow Jackets fell in their Northeast-10 finale at Saint Michael's by a score of 19-6. The visiting AIC squad kept it close through the first half, trailing 4-2 after a quarter and 5-3 at the break, but a nine-goal third frame from the Purple Knights put the game out of reach. Rookie goalkeeper
Matt Sayegh made 16 saves in the setback.
A seven-goal run over the late part of the first quarter into the second put the Lions ahead of the Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur for good in a game they won by a score of 19-14. Included in the run was a hat trick by Michael Saladino, who ended with five goals on the day. Brandon Razler netted a pair of his own and dished seven assists. Austin Geissel made ten stops in the win.
LAST TIME THEY MET: Jack McIntyre had four goals to lead the way as AIC's Senior Day ended in success with a 13-10 win over the Lions at Abdow Field on April 30, 2016. Down 3-1 early, the Jackets went on a first-quarter run, with McIntyre putting the home squad ahead at 14:16 of the frame by a 5-4 margin. The Lions tied the game with the second quarter's only goal, and in the third the teams traded two-goal runs before a last-second goal gave AIC an 8-7 lead. The visiting squad tied the game early in the fourth but McIntyre sealed the deal for AIC with two goals in a row, including the winner as AIC earned the 13-10 victory.
SCOUTING THE LIONS: Jake Sherman is the leading goal scorer for Georgian Court, with 23 goals to go with six assists for 29 points. Tanner Lee's 14 tallies put him second in goals, and his 11 assists have him second in helpers. Razler has 16 assists to lead the squad. Geissel has made 188 saves in 14 games, posting a .543 SV% and a 4-10 record.
JUST ONE MORE: Sayegh is tied for the AIC men's lacrosse record for saves in a season with 243. His next save will break a tie with Corey Pelkey, who also stopped 243 in 2001.
PLAYING FOR DAN: On January 15, Dan Gingras, the father of sophomore midfielder
Andrew Gingras, passed away from the effects of lung cancer. Today, the Yellow Jackets will honor his memory with DG stickers on their helmets. Andrew will also serve as captain for the game.
