Baseball to face Saint Rose, Bloomfield, Pace

After going 3-1 against Saint Anselm College and Saint Michael's College, the Yellow Jackets start the week off with a trip to take on The College of Saint Rose on Tuesday, April 11 at 4:30 p.m. This is the first time AIC and the Golden Knights will face off this season, as the other two attempts were postponed due to weather. The Golden Knights are currently 3-18 overall and 2-6 in the NE10. The last time these two teams met was last year in Albany as the Golden Knights won a close one, defeating the Yellow Jackets 2-1 after a late run scored in the eighth inning for Saint Rose. The Golden Knights are led Andrew Pedone with 22 hits, 10 runs, six doubles, one triple and seven RBI. Caleb Gregg leads Saint Rose on the mound with a record of 2-1 through eight appearances. Gregg has thrown 15 innings and given up 13 hits, 10 runs, nine walks and 14 strikeouts.

The Jackets come back home on Thursday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m. to host a non-conference match against Bloomfield College. The Yellow Jackets and Bears played last in 2015, where the Yellow Jackets won both games of the doubleheader by a score of 2-1 at Palm Beach Atlantic. AIC was scheduled to play Bloomfield two more times that year, once home and once away, but both games were canceled. As of now, the Bears stand 12-10 overall and boast an 8-3 conference record. The Bears have seen success from Christopher Cabral, with a .347 batting average, 26 hits, 16 runs, nine doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI. Anthony Maldonado is 4-2 so far for Bloomfield with a 2.68 ERA. Maldonado has 1 complete game in his seven starts, pitching 43.2 innings and giving up 34 hits, 14 runs, walking 18 and striking out 25.

The Yellow Jackets are back on the road for a three game series against Pace University, with a single game on Friday, April 14 at 2 p.m. and a double header on Saturday, April 15 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. AIC concluded last season with a three game series against Pace, going 1-3 in the process. The Setters have two hitters with 30 hits as of now, Garrett De Lotto and Michael Salmonese. De Lotto has three doubles, three triples and two home runs along with 19 RBI. Anthony Aquino currently stands at 5-1 through seven starts. Aquino also has a complete game and a shutout this year. In 43.1 inning pitched, he's let up 34 hits, 17 runs, 10 earned runs, 10 walks and 29 strikeout.
