Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

#13 Setters push past women's lacrosse

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - Senior attacker Riley Brennan notched a hat trick, and senior goalkeeper Alexis Torosian made 21 saves, but the 13th-ranked Pace Setters left Abdow Field with an 11-6 win over the American International College women's lacrosse team.

The defeat set AIC's record back to 1-6 overall, with an 0-5 NE10 mark.

The Setters scored the game's first two goals before Brennan reversed the pendulum of momentum with her 14th of the season at 6:56. Less than a minute later, senior attacker Stefanie Dufresne tied the game with her 10th of the year at 7:43. A yellow card on the goal gave AIC the man-up opportunity and Brennan put her squad ahead with a goal at 8:47.

Pace would tie the game just over five minutes later, only to have Brennan complete her hat trick at 15:53 with her team-best 16th of the season. Pace knotted the score up on the ensuing possession, but once again the Jackets rebounded, as junior attacker Brittany Hutchison potted her fourth of the year at 19:17.

However, the Setters would go on a run, tying the game at 24:31 and scoring six straight overall to take a lead they would not relinquish; senior attacker Jessica Lawler had AIC's lone second-half marker, her eighth of the year at 18:39 on an extra-man opportunity.

Torosian's busy day of 21 saves tied the mark for the fourth-most in a game in AIC women's lacrosse history; Gina Gallo '11 made 21 saves at Wilmington on March 11, 2009, and she holds the record for saves in a game with 23, done three times in her career.

The Jackets finish their three-game homestand with a tilt against Bentley on Saturday, April 1 at 6 p.m.
