Baseball gets swept by Nyack College

MIAMI - The American International College baseball team was swept by Nyack College in their double header as they lost 4-7 and 0-1. With the defeats AIC moves to 3-2 overall. Nyack College moves to 6-5 overall with the victories.

The first inning saw both teams' score, as the Warriors were able to get a runner on second base after a throwing error committed by Joe Pepe. Nyack's offense eventually scored with a single to left field. The Yellow Jackets responded, getting runners on first and second, as Chris Starcun grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Brendan Carter from second after a throwing error committed by Nyack's first baseman.

The bats went quiet for both the Yellow Jackets and Warrior until the bottom of the third. With Owen Wosleger on first base, Carter singled to center field, where Wosleger advanced to third and proceed to score on a fielding error by the Warriors center fielder. Carter ended up on second base on the proceeding throw to home.

Nyack's offense got hot in the top of the fourth, as the bases were loaded for the Warriors, but nothing materialize, with a fly out and a fielder's choice to put an end to the treat. However, it was the fifth inning that saw Nyack get back on the board. With one out on the board, a fly out to left field easily scored a runner for Nyack to tie the game 2-2.

The Warriors put the nail in the coffin for the Yellow Jackets' with an offensive output in the seventh inning. With two runners on from being hit by pitches, a run came across from a fielding error by Carter, and putting runners on first and third. The next batter for Nyack made it 4-2 with a single past the shortstop. Not wanting any space between them, a double down the left field line cleared the bases, giving the Warriors a 7-2 lead going to the bottom of the inning.

The Yellow Jackets were able to make it interesting in the bottom of the seventh. Dan Frawley started the inning with a walk. Colin Nicklas pinch-hit for Pepe, singling to right field, moving Frawley to third. Wosleger continued the inning strong, sending a pitch into left field, scoring Frawley to make it 7-3. K.J White singled later in the inning into right field to score Nicklas to make it 7-4. AIC's offense fell short, as two straight fly outs to right and center ended the game, giving the Yellow Jackets their first loss of the year.

Anthony Crudale saw limited action, only pitching .2 innings, letting up three hits, three runs, two earned runs and one strike out.
