Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Dolphins beat Yellow Jackets despite late push

SYRACUSE, New York- The American International men's basketball team fell to the host Dolphins of Le Moyne College by a score of 87-66.

Javyon Pitts-Young had his second highest scoring game of the season with 25, just one point away from tying his season high. Juwan Moody had 18 points in 40 minutes of play. Rasheed Howard added 10 and seven rebounds in the loss.

Pitts-Young got things started with a layup after 15 seconds had expired. The Dolphins went on a 7-2 run to take the 7-4 lead just 1:35 into the game. Pitts-Young gave AIC their second lead of the game, 8-7, at the 16:39 mark. It took over three minute for either team to score, but the Yellow Jackets broke the drought with a free throw by freshman Zekiah Owens. The Dolphins started to build a double digit lead with 4:41 left in the first half. Twice in the opening 20, the Dolphins had a 17 point lead, but at the half it was 44-30 Le Moyne.

AIC cut their deficit down to 11 with 13:25 left in the game, but that would be as close as the Yellow Jackets would get. The Dolphins took the game and swept the season series with the 87-66 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jackets round out their two game road swing on Tuesday, February 7 when they travel to take on the Owls of Southern Connecticut. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
