WATERBURY, Connecticut - The American International College women's basketball team defeated Post, 77-72, on the road on Saturday, December 2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Down 5-0 just 1:06 into the game, AIC went on a 6-0 run to take the 6-5 lead. With 1:52 left in the first quarter, Post was able to take its biggest lead of the game by going up 20-13. But, just seconds later, the Yellow Jackets cut into the lead off a jumper from junior forward Dana Watts. On their next possession, junior guard Jayda Gilmore connected on a layup to bring AIC within 20-17. The Eagles converted on a free throw to hold a 21-17 lead at the end of the quarter.
- AIC then opened up the second quarter by going on an 8-0 run to take their first lead of the game and be up 25-21. Building a 37-28 lead with 2:43 remaining in the half, the Yellow Jackets traded baskets with the Eagles and took a 41-32 advantage at the break.
- Starting the third quarter, Watts and sophomore guard Nadia Wooten both hit layups and then freshman guard Ishanna Brown drained a jumper to give AIC the 45-32 advantage with 8:35 left in the quarter. After holding an 11-point lead late in the third quarter, Bridgeport chipped away by going on a 9-4 run to be down just 56-52 with 1:09 left in the quarter.
- The Eagles began the fourth quarter by going on a 7-0 run to retake the lead and be up 62-60. But, after two made free throws from junior guard Alyssa Guyon and a layup from Gilmore, AIC took back the lead. Down 75-72 with only 30 seconds left, Post's Gabriela Middleton missed a jumper. Seconds later, Watts was fouled, and she made both free throws to help seal a 77-72 victory for the Yellow Jackets.
GAME NOTES:
- After scoring 32 points in the win over Post, Watts has now scored in double figures in seven of eight games played this season. Her 32-point, 13-rebound performance also marks her sixth double-double of the season.
- The Yellow Jackets were also able to get a few season-highs on the victory as they recorded a season high in field goal percentage (50 percent), assists (16), and steals (13).
