SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's basketball team hosted the University of Bridgeport in a nonconference showdown on Saturday, December 2, and fell by a score of 89-71.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Bridgeport opened up the game with a 9-4 lead, AIC went on a 9-4 run to tie the game at 13 with 13:46 left in the first half. Down 17-13 later in the half, senior guard Kassim Kaba drilled a three-pointer and then sophomore forward Zekiah Owens slammed home a dunk to give the Yellow Jackets their first lead of the contest.
- As Kaba hit another triple to cut the Bridgeport lead to 33-30 at the 4:10 mark of the half, the Purple Knights closed out the second half on a 11-4 run to lead 44-34.
- Bridgeport used the first 8:11 of the second half to jump out to their biggest lead of the game, at 18 points. Layups by freshman forward Robert Durant and freshman guard Adonis Williams cut the deficit to 14 points, but the Purple Knights answered right back to put the score at 64-48 with 10:23 remaining in the game.
- At the 2:13 mark of the game, AIC was able to cut the Bridgeport lead back to 13 after a three from senior forward Tahlib Swan. But the Purple Knights were able to trade baskets with the Yellow Jackets and finish on a 12-7 run to hold off AIC 89-71.
GAME NOTES:
- The Yellow Jackets had five players score in double figures on Saturday afternoon, marking the first time they've done that this season. AIC has had four players score in double figures three times this season, at Philadelphia University (November 12), New Haven (November 21), and Georgian Court (November 26).
- Durant's team-high 16 points marks the third time this season he's scored in double figures.
- Swan has now scored in double figures five times this season. Swan's 13 rebounds on Saturday is a season-high for the senior.
