SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The No. 2 American International College volleyball team hosted No. 7 Southern Connecticut State in a NE10 quarterfinal playoff game, falling in four sets, 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- As AIC held a 20-17 advantage late in the first set, Southern Connecticut produced back-to-back kills to cut the deficit to one point. A kill from Leanna Jadus followed by an attack error from AIC middle blocker Andrea Dillon, the score was tied at 21.
- After the Owls earned the point to have a 24-23 lead and the set point, the two teams would end up trading the next six points. Clinging to a 27-26 advantage, the Yellow Jackets received a kill from Annie Boele to win the first set 28-26.
- In the second set, Southern Connecticut had a 14-12 lead and went on a 11-5 run to finish out the set with a 25-17 victory and even up the match at one apiece.
- Down 20-15 in the third set, AIC fought its way back by going on a 6-1 run to tie the set at 21. But Southern Connecticut was able to hold on and get the 25-22 win in the set.
- Tied at 11 in the fourth frame, the Owls went on a 6-0 run to have the 17-11 advantage. The Yellow Jackets were able to climb back by going on a quick 6-1 run to cut the deficit to 18-17 Southern Connecticut. But, the Owls would get three straight points to extend the lead to 21-17 and force an AIC timeout. The Owls were able to hang on and close out the set at 25-19.
GAME NOTES:
- Rivera became the career leader in digs in program history during Tuesday, October 17'smatch against Southern Connecticut State. Rivera's dig on the final play of the game proved to be the record-breaking dig.
- On Saturday, October 28 against Roberts Wesleyan, Rivera became the first player in program history to surpass the 2,000 digs club. She sits at 2,112 digs.
- Kopren now ranks third all-time in program history in assists. She currently has 2,719 career assists and is 1,120 behind Stephanie O'Brien, who has 3,839.
- Annie Boele is now seventh all-time in career kills with 860.
