HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Alyssa Guyon got the Yellow Jackets first points of the season by hitting a three about two-minutes into the game, which started an 8-0 run for the Yellow Jackets.
- Daemen hung in but with the score at 10-6 and Daemen only racking up two made field goals through the first five minutes, coach Jenepher Banker decided to call timeout.
- Banker's players responded well and a buzzer-beating three from White tied the game at 14 to end the first quarter.
- AIC opened the second quarter the same way they opened the first, with a three-pointer but this one was from Rashana Siders.
- Unfortunately, Siders three did not kick start a run. Instead, the Wildcats responded with a lay-up from Erin Egan and a two-for-two trip to the line from Erin Sinnott which gave them their first lead since the opening bucket.
- A jumper from Jayda Gilmore would tie the game at 21, but Daemen went on an 8-0 run right after which was led by back-to-back threes from J. Heinold.
- A Siders three brought the Jackets within three at 29-26 but then Taylor Heinold went eye-for-an-eye and drained a three for Daemen on the following possession.
- The Wildcats got the first double-digit lead of the game when Cara Pringle knocked down a jumper with just under two minutes remaining in the first half.
- Then Heinold hit a three with a minute remaining to extend Daemen's lead to 39-26.
- AIC only mustered a free-throw from Jayla McDuffie in the final minute, so they entered the break trailing, 39-27.
- The Yellow Jackets had a poor start to the second-half, allowing the Wildcats to go on a 6-2 run in the first two minutes which gave them a 16-point lead, the largest of the game.
- Wooten calmed the storm with an individual five-point run, but AIC was never able to get the lead below double-digits.
- A pair of free-throws from Pringle with less than a minute remaining in the third brought the lead back up to 16.
- A layup and a free-throw from Guyon closed the quarter for the Yellow Jackets and brought the score to 52-39.
- Dominique Boyd opened the fourth with two free-throws and got the lead down to 11 again but AIC just couldn't get over the hump.
- A Pringle three-pointer made it 57-41, Wildcats, and gave them their third 16-point lead of the game.
- A layup from Watts made it 59-49 with just under five-minutes remaining but Daemen shutdown any hopes of a comeback quickly with back-to-back baskets in the next minute.
- A pair of Boyd free-throws with 30-seconds left got the Yellow Jackets within single digits at 66-57 but it was clearly too little too late.
- Pringle rounded out the game with a two-for-two trip to the line in the final five seconds to make the score 70-61, Wildcats.
