LAST TIME OUT:
- AIC battled hard against No. 10 Adelphi, but came up short in a 1-0 defeat on Wednesday, October 25.
- Mikayla Demanche made nine saves, including turning aside a PK from Jeanine Nunez, Adelphi's leading scorer.
- Saint Michael's dropped a 3-1 decision to Franklin Pierce the same day.
- Meghan Dieterle leveled the score with a goal in the 41st minute, but Veronica Marques scored twice in the second half to give the Ravens the victory.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
- Despite dominating the shot totals and holding the Purple Knights without a corner kick, it was Saint Michael's who bested AIC 1-0 in overtime on October 4, 2016 in Colchester, Vermont.
- Michaela Horne had the winning goal on a free kick in the 93rd minute to send AIC home with a conference loss for the first time in the 2016 season.
SCOUTING THE PURPLE KNIGHTS:
- The Purple Knights mirror the Yellow Jackets in scoring-both teams have -12 goal differentials, as AIC has both scored and allowed one more goal than Saint Michael's, though the Purple Knights have played two fewer games.
- At 9.2 shots per game, the Purple Knights take the second fewest shots of any NE10 team, ahead of only Southern Connecticut.
- Saint Michael's is also last in goals against per game, allowing 1.55.
SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
- Four Yellow Jackets will participate in the final game of their collegiate careers: back Miko Iida, forward Linnea Herbertsson, back Kelly Koslosky, and back Anais Chareyron. These four seniors have brought an international flair to the team, representing their four countries: Japan, Sweden, the United States, and France respectively.
- Iida, a native of Ichihara-Shi, Japan, has been a two-year member of the team while earning her degree in business administration with a minor in sports management. She has been a strong presence at center back, where she has started 24 of her 33 games in two seasons. She has a knack for coming up big in critical moments; last season, she set up the tying goal in the NE10 Quarterfinals against Le Moyne, and this year she had the assist on the winning overtime goal against Pace and the tying tally at New Haven.
- Herbertsson, a native of Boras, Sweden, has been a member of the team for four years and is earning her degree in accounting. She has always been a strong presence up front for the Yellow Jackets, starting 34 of her 69 games played. This year, she has served as a captain, and leads the team with four goals, none bigger than her overtime breakaway goal against Pace in the Yellow Jackets come-from-behind win over their conference rivals.
- Koslosky, a native of Naugatuck, Connecticut, has been a huge part of the team for four years while earning a degree in human biology. Serving as captain for two years, her leadership has been instrumental since her arrival. She has started 54 of her 61 games played, including every game in her freshman, sophomore, and senior campaigns. A multiple-time recipient of the Northeast-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, Koslosky's biggest moment came at New Haven this season, where she struck the tying goal in a 1-1 draw.
- Chareyron, a native of Peypin, France, is seeking her MBA in accounting and taxation, and has long been one of the best defenders in the Northeast-10 Conference. Starting in all but two of her 73 games played, including every game each of the last three seasons, Chareyron was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Second Team and to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Third Team in 2016. The team's top center back has been critical in making AIC's defense one of the best in the nation over her four seasons.
