RINDGE, New Hampshire- The American International College women's basketball team opened their three game road swing with the Ravens of Franklin Pierce. The Yellow Jackets got the road trip off on the right foot with a 76-49 win over the Ravens.
Dana Watts had 20 points and eight rebounds.
Imani Stepney was second on the team in both points and boards with 15 and seven.
Destine Perry had a career-high 13 points as she want 4-for-6 from the floor, including 2-for-3 behind the arc. Rounding out the double-digit scoring was
Jayda Gilmore with 11 points, four rebounds, and six assists.
Despite losing, the Ravens score the first four points on close range shots. Watts got the Yellow Jackets on the board a little after a minute of play. The Ravens made it a 7-2 game before AIC went on a run. Their run 15-0 spanned over four and a half minutes and gave the Yellow Jackets the 17-7 lead. After 10 minutes of play, the Yellow Jackets held a 22-12 advantage.
As the first minute and a half of the second half passed, the Yellow Jackets grew their lead to 18 points, 30-12. Time continued to expire as the Yellow Jackets kept knocking down shots and caged the Ravens with their great defense. At the half, the Yellow Jackets had a 45-17 lead.
The Yellow Jackets had their largest lead of the quarter at the seven minute mark, 33, on a
Jayda Gilmore jump shot. The Ravens made it a 29 point game with 32 seconds left in the third. After 30 minutes of play, AIC led, 66-37.
The Yellow Jackets ran away with the game, at one point being up by 32. The final score was 76-49. The Yellow Jackets continue their road swing on Saturday, January 14 at 1:30 when they take on Bentley.
