OLD WESTBURY, New York - On a hot afternoon, the American International College men's soccer team lost a difficult match to the New York Institute of Technology, 3-0, on Saturday at President's Stadium.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nicholas Romei had eight saves for the Yellow Jackets in his third appearance this season.

NYIT's Jorge Sariego scored in the 35th minute to put the Bears up 1-0 at the half. Alejandro Del Cura and Krishen Patel each added a goal in the final 10 minutes of regulation to push the final score of 3-0.

The Yellow Jackets had two shots on goal, with chances from freshmen Nikola Popovich and Jake Durham. The Bears outshot AIC 28-9 in total.

After four straight road games, the Yellow Jackets return to Abdow Field for their home opener on Tuesday against Merrimack College. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

"I've answered a lot of questions that I had," AIC head coach Luke Perry said. "Now it's about rebuilding and starting again on Tuesday when conference play begins."
