WATERBURY, Conn. The American International College men's lacrosse team fell in non-conference road action Wednesday, Mar. 2 at Post University on LaMoy Field, 17-2.
With the loss AIC falls to 0-3 overall, while with the win Post moves to 2-1 in the early going.
Trailing 7-0 in the second quarter, AIC sophomore attackman Jack McIntyre (East Longmeadow, Mass.) broke AIC onto the scoreboard with his second of the season. The Jackets proceeded to hold Post scoreless for 4:28 of play, but the Eagles did not want to fly into the intermission quietly, striking for two goals in the final 11 seconds of first half action.
Out of the break, AIC held Post scoreless for 3:54, but the Eagles found the back of the net three more times in a quick burst. The two squads ended the final 7:19 of the third without a goal.
Following five more Post goals, AIC junior Kevin Papineau (Westfield, Mass.) netted his third goal of the season, converting an eagle turnover into a Jacket positive.
AIC senior Michael Palmieri (Guilford, Conn.) was strong in face-offs, winning 14-of-20 he faced for the game. As a team, AIC went 15-of-22.
Post outshot AIC, 44-26, with Jacket freshman netminder Tariq Qureshi (Elmont, N.Y.) making 10 saves.
The Yellow Jackets host nationally ranked No. 7 Adelphi University Saturday, Mar. 5 at Abdow Field. Game-time with the Panthers is slated for 1 p.m.
