WORCESTER, Mass. The American International College men's lacrosse team fell in Norheast-10 road action at Assumption College Friday afternoon, 19-5.
With the loss AIC falls to 0-5 and 0-3 in conference tilts, while with the win Assumption improves to 1-3 and 1-0 in the NE-10.
The Hounds stayed true to their name, racing to a commanding 10-0 lead to end the first quarter. The Jackets tightened up in the second stanza, holding Assumption to a single goal and netting two of their own. Jacket sophomore Jack McIntyre (East Longmeadow, Mass.) struck twice in the frame and came out of the intermission with his fifth of the season.
AIC junior Kevin Papineau (Westfield, Mass.) made it three straight goals for the Yellow Jackets netting his fifth of the season assisted by classmate John Magliano (Upton, Mass.). Freshman Hunter Cooney (Rochester, Mass.) struck for his second of the season, but the Hounds shutout AIC in the fourth, finishing on a 6-0 goal run.
American International freshman goalie Tariq Qureshi (Elmont, N.Y.) made 17 saves in the losing effort.
The Jackets return to action Tuesday, Mar. 14 when they travel to Dominican College for a non-conference clash with the Chargers. Game-time is slated to start at 4 p.m.
