Road trip to LIU Post for women's basketball

The American International College women's basketball team hits the road for a second straight road game when it travels to play LIU Post.

LAST TIME OUT:The Yellow Jackets are coming off a big win over the Setters of Pace, 61-56. The two teams battled in a physical game but the Yellow Jackets prevailed. Dana Watts and Imani Stepney each recorded a double-double. Watts had 22 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, while Stepney recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds as she recorded her third straight double-double. As a team, the Yellow Jackets out-rebounded the Setters 42-36, and forced 18 Setter turnovers.

The Pioneers are coming off a 69-59 win over Daemen College at home. After dropping their first two games of the season, they have rallied to win four of their last five games to bring them to 4-3 overall. Sasha Patterson led the team in the win over Daemon with 11 points and 18 rebounds, eight of which came on the offensive side. They also had three other players in double-digit scoring.

CONSISTENCY:Sophomore standout Watts has been one of the most consistent players in the country this season. Watts has recorded a double-double in six of the Yellow Jackets' seven games this season. She is averaging 22.9 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. She ranks in the top 20 nationally in made free throws (1st), free throw attempts (2nd), double-doubles (2nd), points per game (4th), rebounds (5th), defensive rebounds per game (7th), and rebounds per game (11th).

SAME FIVE:The Yellow Jackets have started the same lineup in all seven games this season. As a crew, the starting five are averaging 61.7 points per game and 31 rebounds per game.

DON'T SEND THE JACKETS TO THE STRIPE:As a team, the Yellow Jackets are the seventh-ranked squad in the country by free throw percentage. The Yellow Jackets are shooting 80.9% from the line, 131-162. With a minimum of 10 attempts, Watts leads the team at 95.1% (58-61). Stepney is shooting 82.1% (23-28).

NEXT UP:AIC will host Le Moyne on Tuesday, December 1 at 5:30 p.m. It will then hit the road for two games, December 8 at Post, and December 10 at New Haven.
