The American International College women's soccer team is set for a showdown with top-seeded Bridgeport in the East Region Semifinal of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT: AIC thrashed Stonehill 3-1 behind a 10-0 second-half shot advantage in the East Region Quarterfinal on Friday. With the wind in their faces, the Jackets still struck first, as Johanna Nilsson fired home a penalty kick at 17:35 to give AIC a 1-0 edge. However, Stonehill would equalize before the end of the frame on a free kick just outside of the box. The second set of 45 minutes was an entirely different story; working with rather than against the wind, they generated chance after chance, finally breaking through on a long-range shot by Stephanie Tweer that she placed brilliantly into the left upper corner at 63:33 on a pass from Nilsson. Jessica Margaretta added a third goal at 70:02, firing another shot into the top left for the final score. Madison Brown made four saves in goal, all in the first half.

Bridgeport most recently played LIU Post in the East Coast Conference Championship, winning 2-0 on two second half goals. After a scoreless first half that saw both teams manage just two shots on goal, the Purple Knights erupted in the final frame, pounding nine shots on target and not allowing any; Stephanie Vahos scored the winning goal on a header on a corner kick by Nicola Worthington at 48:07, and Worthington added an insurance marker at 84:26 to give the home team their second straight ECC title.

LAST TIME THEY MET: The Yellow Jackets opened the season against Bridgeport and the Purple Knights prevailed 1-0. Bridgeport scored the game's only goal on a breakaway, as Idoia Agirre struck 3:36 into regulation and the Purple Knights held on despite a 15-10 shot differential favoring the Yellow Jackets. Brown made five saves in the defeat.

THIRTEEN: Since a 7-0 defeat at Western Washington, the University of Bridgeport has won 13 consecutive games, including their two ECC Tournament contests. In five of those games the Purple Knights netted at least seven goals, including 9-0 wins against St. Thomas Aquinas and Queens.

DANCING PARTNER: The Yellow Jackets hosted Bridgeport to open the 2013 NCAA Tournament, the last time these teams met in postseason play. That game, also in the East Region Semifinal, was won by AIC 2-0; the winning tally came just 1:06 into the match, and AIC outshot Bridgeport 25-4 in the contest. Only three players remain from that contest who hit the field: Bridgeport's Julia Weidenmark and Amanda Moura, and AIC's Jessica Margaretta.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP CURSE?: The Northeast-10 and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champions combined to go 0-2 on the first day of the Tournament. In addition to AIC's win over Stonehill, LIU Post toppled CACC Champion Caldwell. Bridgeport had a first round bye, and as such has not had to play yet.

NEXT UP: The winner of this match will play the winner of the Adelphi-LIU Post contest for the East Region Championship; the site of the match is to be determined, but will be hosted by the highest remaining seed in the Atlantic Region on Friday, November 18.
