COLCHESTER, Vermont --The American International College volleyball team traveled north to Vermont to take on Saint Michael's. The Yellow Jackets dominated the match as they swept, 25-14, 25-13, and 25-16.
In the first set, the two teams were tied at three when the Yellow Jackets went on a 5-0 run to take the 8-5 lead. The Yellow Jackets dominated the set as they took it 25-14.
The dominance continued in the second set. The Yellow Jackets scored eight of the first 11 points. Later in the set, they went on a 6-1 run to make it a 19-8 game.
Dolores Kopren ended the second set with an ace to give the Yellow Jackets the two-set lead. The Yellow Jackets didn't lift their foot from the pedal, taking the third set 25-16.
The Yellow Jackets led the Purple Knights in points, kills, aces, blocks, and assists.
Diva Rivas-Reyes had 13 kills, the only player to reach double-digits for either team. To no surprise, Kopren led the team with 30 assists.
Mercy Rivera was the only Yellow Jacket with double-digit digs, at 16.
Before returning home for Senior Day, the Yellow Jackets will travel to the University of New Haven for a 7 p.m. match on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
