SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts- The American International College women's rugby team faced off against former coach Mel Denham and the Wildcats of Central Washington University. The Wildcats took the early lead and never gave it up, despite the Yellow Jacket's efforts.

Fifteen minutes into the game the Wildcats led 10-0 on two scores by Suiluana A'au. Yellow Jacket senior Anna Mbegam scored the first Yellow Jacket try and Sarah Coucci put it through the uprights to make it a 10-7 game.
After a Wildcat score, Mbegam and Coucci put another try and conversion on the board to cut the Wildcat lead down to one, 15-14. The Wildcats added two more tries, converting one of them, to make it a 27-14 game at the half.

The Wildcats put two more tries on the board before Shanell Russo score a try for the Yellow Jackets to make it a 37-19 game. The Wildcats went on a 20-7 run to end the game, final score Wildcats 57 Yellow Jackets 26.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Sunday, October 9 at home when they take on West Chester University on Senior Day. Kickoff is set for noon.
