MANSFIELD, Mass. Freshman C.J. Boykin (Nashua, N.H.) has been tabbed Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week on the week 12 report as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
This marks the second time a Yellow Jacket has earned this honor as freshman Alex LaFayette (Ludlow, Mass.) was honored two weeks ago.
Junior RHP Harrison Paige (Springfield, Mass.), senior Lucas Vallas (East Northport, N.Y.) and sophomore Chris Starcun (Easthampton, Mass.) also earned honor roll recognition for their performances in a 4-0 week.
Boykin batted .467 (7-for-15) on the week as he hit safely in all four contests setting the table from the lead-off spot. The freshman scored six runs while stealing two bases including taking home safely in a 6-1 victory over Adelphi as part of a weekend sweep.
Boykin recorded multiple hits in each game against the Panthers going 6-for-12 in the series sweep.
Paige started two crucial games last week going five innings to earn the decision in a 16-4 victory over Saint Rose before coming back on short rest to throw a complete game in the series final against Adelphi and pick up a 6-1 victory to complete the sweep.
The junior pitched 14 innings surrendering just one earned run on the week while striking out 11. Paige now joins teammate Colin Sledzik (Higganum, Conn.) with four complete games on the year, a mark tied for tops in the conference.
Vallas earns honor roll accolades for the second straight week as the senior continues to swing a hot bat. Vallas batted .417 (5-for-12) while hitting his seventh homer of the season a mark good for third in the league.
Starcun also lands on the honor roll for the second straight week as he saw his average climb back above .400 and now sits second in the conference with a .404 average after a 7-for-15 week. He hit safely in each game while adding a home run and driving in six runs. His 22 RBI's is good for tops on the team while his 38 hits are tied for the team lead with junior Tyler Geffert (Hopedale, Mass.).
AIC heads on the road for two non-conference tilts on Tuesday at LIU Post and Wednesday at Molloy before they host New Haven in a crucial NE-10 Southwest series this weekend in hopes of earning a playoff berth for the first time in 15 years.
