SPRINGFIELD, Mass. Tuesday afternoon was a very special day for the American International College baseball team as they signed their youngest member in seven year old Brian Korzeniowski.
Brian, who struggles with Cystic Fibrosis, was matched with the Yellow Jackets through Team Impact a few weeks ago and inked his letter of intent Tuesday afternoon in front of a standing room only crowd in the AIC Hall of Fame as many athletes and AIC community members came for support.
Team Impact aims to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. They match courageous children with local college teams to help build strength, support and camaraderie.
"The impact that Brian will have on AIC will be much more profound than the impact we will have on him" mentioned Athletic Director Matthew Johnson. "The connection that Team Impact creates between children and college athletes is truly a priceless thing" Head Coach Nick Callini added.
Brian has given the AIC team a new form of intensity since joining the Yellow Jackets as they have won five of their last 10 games including a 3-1 record with Brian in attendance at home games.
American International looks to continue this momentum as they take on Saint Rose this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. with Brian in attendance cheering on his teammates.
