PROVIDENCE, R.I. Freshman Anne-Laurence Harvey (Quebec, Canada) scored a pair of tries to help lead the American International College women's rugby team past Brown University, 27-19, in the quarter-final round of the NCWVRA Championship this afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets will move on to play either Harvard or Army in the semi-final round on Friday the 20th back at Brown with a time to be announced.
Harvey opened the scoring early with a try in just the second minute, but the Bears came right back to tie the contest with a try of their own in the tenth minute for the 5-5 score.
Junior Domonique Cammock (Bronx, N.Y.) tilted the lead back to AIC momentarily with a try in the 21st minute before Brown used a try and conversion to grab a 12-10 lead at the half.
AIC came out of the second half on fire and grabbed a 27-12 lead with 17 straight points as Harvey sandwiched a try between one by senior Anna Mbengam (Randolph, Mass.) and sophomore Shamira Robles (Bronx, N.Y.).
Brown fought back to score a try and conversion to cut the deficit in half, but they ran out of time as the Jackets escaped with the victory to move onto next weekends semifinals.
