PROVIDENCE, R.I. Freshman Anne-Laurence Harvey (Quebec, Canada) registered all 21 points for American International College, but it was the Army Black Knights securing a 25-21 victory in the semifinals of the National Collegiate Women's Varsity Rugby Association Championship from Brown University this afternoon.
This marks the third time this season that West Point has defeated AIC all by just a total of nine points. The Yellow Jackets conclude their fall 15's season with an overall record of 4-5.
Army jumped out to an early lead as they recorded a try and conversion in the 11th minute before knocking through a penalty-kick in the 31st minute for the 10-0 lead before the Jackets could find the try zone which they did in 35th minute to cut the lead down to 10-7.
Harvey intercepted an offload and scampered 80-yards the other way for the try and converted the kick after for the points.
However, the Cadets came right back grabbing a try of their own just before the halftime buzzer in the 39th minute for the 15-7 lead at the intermission.
The teams continued to play hard through a sloppy thick mud filled field and Army West Point gained their largest lead of the day after a try in the 51st minute made the score 20-7.
AIC didn't quit though as Harvey continued her record-setting season by plunging into the try-zone in the 69th minute and converted the conversion for the six-point deficit, 20-14.
Another Black Knight try in the 72nd minute all but sealed the victory as even a late try by Harvey off a five-meter scrum in the 77th minute wasn't enough as time ran out.
Harvey finished her fall season shattering records as she had the best 15's season to-date for the AIC women setting new benchmark's for points, try's and conversions.
