Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls At St. Anselm, 92-71

MANCHESTER, N.H. The American International College men's basketball team fell on the road at Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 Conference tilt at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium, 92-71.

With the loss AIC snapped a four-game win streak and drops to 15-4 overall and 10-3 in the NE-10, while with the win St. A's improves to 13-5 and 10-4 in the league this season.

The Yellow Jackets shot 50 percent in the opening half, but struggled to keep pace with the Hawks torrid offense which made 23-of-35 shots, a 65 percent clip. Junior Cameron Dobbs (Albany, N.Y) hit all five of his 3-point attempts in the first half including a fade away with a defender in his face. Dobbs finished 5-of-7 from the field with a team-high 15 points heading into the break.

Dobbs cut the Hawks lead to five with one of his long range shots at the 9:12 to go mark. Redshirt freshman Nolan Woodward (Montreal, Canada) hit a 3-pointer on AIC's next basket to stay within five, but St. A's ended on a 24-9 run to take a 56-38 halftime lead.

The Yellow Jackets hung tough in the second half. A Woodward layup cut the AIC deficit to 12 with 12:29 remaining. Senior forward Marcus Porter (New Castle, Del.) responded from a Chris Santo field goal on the other end to bring it back within 12, but that would be as close as it would get with 11:54 on the clock.

AIC senior Bobby Harris (Berlin, N.J.) scored 17 of his team-high 26 points in the second half. He grabbed 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Dobbs finished with 21 points while Porter chipped in nine.

Each squad knocked in 10 3-pointers apiece, but the Hawks made their money inside the paint, outscoring the Jackets 46-24 in the cylinder.

Santo got some good looks inside to finish 16-for-19 from the floor with a game-high 35 points.

AIC returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 4 when the travel to NE-10 Southwest Division foe Saint Rose. Tip-off from Albany is slated for 7:30 p.m.
