GARDEN CITY, N.Y. The American International College field hockey blanked Adelphi 2-0 Wednesday evening in a non-conference match.
With the win AIC improves to 5-3, while the loss drops Adelphi to 5-3.
Junior Jenna Masionis (Ashland, Mass.) scored her team leading sixth goal of the year to get the Yellow Jackets on the board first. AIC would take the slim 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Out of the half, sophomore Kaylin Harbin (Stroudsburg, Pa.) gave the Yellow Jackets a cushion in the 40th minute off a penalty corner.
The Panthers outshot AIC 22-8. Senior goalkeeper Kori Huffman (Brattkeboro, Vt.) was stellar keeping Adelphi off the scoreboard, tallying nine saves in her first shutout of the season.
Panther goalkeeper Kelly Serrao (Lake Hiawatha, N.J.) made two saves.
AIC opens Northeast-10 conference play Tuesday, October 1 at home on Abdow Field against Southern Connecticut State University. The game is slated to start at 4 p.m.
