Field Hockey Looking To Build On Early Season Momentum At Southern Connecticut

NEW HAVEN, Conn. The American International College field hockey team travels to Southern Connecticut State University tonight for a non-conference tilt slated to start at 7 p.m.

ABOUT AIC: The Yellow Jackets are off to a 3-1, 0-0 in the Northeast-10 (NE-10) start in 2013, coming off a 3-1 victory over Mercy. Junior Jenna Masionis (Ashland, Mass.) scored her second of the year, while sophomores Erica McLean (Branford, Conn.) and Kaylin Harbin (Stroudsburg, Pa.) tallied their first goals of the season. Senior goalkeeper Kori Huffman (Brattleboro, Vt.) notched three saves. Senior Courtney Williams (Westfield, Mass.), and juniors Amanda Johannes (Killingowrth, Conn.) and Masionis lead the team with two goals apiece, but sophomores Emily Kollar (Lehighton, Pa.), Erica McLean and Harbin (Stroudsburg, Pa.), as well as freshman Emma Heroth (Johnstown, N.Y.) all have found the back of the net for AIC, as the Yellow Jackets have shared the wealth.

ABOUT SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: The Owls enter Tuesday's contests 0-3, 0-0 Ne-10, this season following a loss to No. 8 ranked Bentley on Saturday, 2-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Dolloff (Raynham, Mass.) collected nine saves in the loss. All four Owl goals this season have come from different players.

LAST MEETING: The two last played on October 18, 2012 where SCSU won 4-2. Down 0-4, Harbin broke the shutout with a one-timer to the left side of the cage. A few minutes later Mackenzie Kewley (Rutland, Mass.) struck to bring AIC within two, but time would run out on the Yellow Jackets rally. Huffman saved nine shots in the loss, while the Owls spread out as four different attackers scored. SCSU narrowly outshot AIC, 21-20. Dolloff tallied 11 saves, as both goalies saw a flurry of action.
