BRIDGEPORT, Conn. Junior outfielder
Dan Asselin (Chicopee, Mass.) of the American International College baseball team was named this week's East Region National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Hitter of the Week for games played from April 22-April 28, 2013.
The Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, Asselin batted .500/.556/.875 in a 2-2 week, going 8-for-16 with one double, one triple, one homer, five RBI and four runs scored. He was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBI in a 7-2 win over Southern Connecticut Saturday after going 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored against the Owls Friday. He was also 2-for-5 with a run scored in a 6-5 win over Le Moyne.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action April 30 when they travel to Assumption College for a 3:30 p.m. Northeast-10 Southwest Division contest.
