SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College baseball team recorded an 8-5 non-conference victory over visiting Nyack College Monday afternoon at AIC Park. Junior Cam MacDoanld went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI at the plate and struck out three of the four batters he faced in the final 1.1 innings to earn the save.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 10-8 with the victory, while the Warriors fell to 3-12 for the season with the loss.
Nyack jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as sophomore John Kennedy scored on classmate Brent James ground out to first and fellow sophomore Kris Chatman scored on an error. AIC answered with three runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead for good.

Tyler Geffert doubled to right to drive in sophomore
Mike Coyne and then came around to score on freshman
Brett Bohl's single through the right side of the infield. Bohl later came across the plate on MacDonald's double to center to give the Yellow Jackets a 3-2 lead.
Bohl drove in two more runs in the bottom of the third with a two-out single to right to give AIC a 5-2 lead and two more runs scored in the seventh as Coyne scored on MacDonald's infield single and Geffert scored on an error to give the Yellow Jackets a 7-3 lead.
The Warriors got two runs back in the top of the eighth before sophomore

Dan Asselin's single in the bottom half of the inning for the 8-5 final.
Sophomore
David Kerlejza allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits with 10 strikeouts in seven innings of work to earn his first win of the season, improving his record to 1-0 in his three appearances for the season. Sophomore Logan White took the loss after giving up five runs (three earned) on eight hits in three innings, dropping his record to 1-2.
Geffert went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and one driven in, while Bohl went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Asselin went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Coyne finished the day 2-for-5 with three runs scored.
AIC will return to action Tuesday when it hosts a Northeast-10 Southwest Division contest against Assumption College at 3:30 p.m. at AIC Park.
