FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The American International College baseball team improved to 3-1 for the season after sweeping a non-conference doubleheader against Merrimack College Sunday at the Fort Pierce Complex. The Yellow Jackets took gam-one 11-2 before recording a 9-8 walk-off win in game-two.

AIC took control of the first game with a five-run second inning, which was more than enough for junior
Daniel Guerrero who allowed just two runs on four hits with four strikeouts in the nine-inning complete-game victory.

Sophomore designated hitter
Lucas Vallas went 4-for-4 with a double at the dish with three runs scored and one driven in, while junior left fielder
Dave Clark was 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the seventh, two runs scored and one RBI. Sophomore right fielder
Dan Asselin was 3-for-5 with two RBI and also scored twice.

Merrimack led 8-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh and final inning of game-two, but the Yellow Jackets rallied for the second time in three games to pull out the walk-off win.

Clark scored on a sac fly from senior center fielder
Chris Amate and back-to-back walks followed to load the bases with just one out. Junior
Dan Fenton and sophomore
Dan Asselin then delivered back-to-back RBI singles to tie the game at 8-8 and freshman
Eddie Ritch drew a walk to score classmate
Tyler Geffert with the game winning run.

Amate and Fenton were both 1-for-3 with two RBI, while MacDonald and Clark each went 1-for-2 with two runs scored. Sophomore
Steve Pino was awarded the decision after allowing one unearned run in one inning of relief.

AIC will next take on Saint Thomas Aquinas College Monday at noon in Lake Worth, Fla.
