Men's Basketball Falls to New Haven on Senior Night, 60-50

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's basketball team suffered a 60-50 loss to the University of New Haven in a Northeast-10 contest Wednesday night at Henry A. Butova Gymnasium.

The Chargers improved to 17-7 overall and 14-6 in the NE-10 with the win, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 9-15 overall and 6-14 in conference play. The loss for AIC, combined with Le Moyne College's 81-60 win over Southern Connecticut State University, eliminated the Yellow Jackets from playoff contention.

Sophomore forward/center Eric Anderson (Newark, N.J.) had an impressive performance for New Haven, scoring a game-high 17 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field to go with a game-high 20 rebounds. Senior guard Jeremy Williams (Silver Spring, Md.) added 16 points with three boards and three assists, while junior guard Jeremy Adkins (Piscataway, N.J.) chipped in with 11 points and four assists.

Junior guard Spencer Braithwaite (Dorchester, Mass.) led AIC with 14 points, while junior guard Jason Perrier (Bridgeport, Conn.) netted 10 points with five boards off the bench.

The Yellow Jackets looked good in the first half, shooting 42.3 percent (11-26) from the field and going 4-for-8 from three to take a 31-24 lead at the half. The second half was a different story as AIC shot just 25.8 percent (8-31) from the field and were 1-for-8 from downtown while getting outscored 36-19 in the frame.

The Chargers shot 42 percent (21-50) for the game and outrebounded the Yellow Jackets 41-31 with nine offensive boards turning into 14 second chance points.

AIC will next travel to the College of Saint Rose Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
