Basketball Team's Head To Le Moyne For NE-10 Doubleheader

SETTING THE SCENE: The Yellow Jackets jump back into Northeast-10 play when they travel to Syracuse, N.Y. Wednesday, Dec. 4 to take on the Le Moyne Dolphins. The Dolphins are 2-0 at home, while AIC boasts a 2-1 road record so far this season.

ABOUT AIC: The Yellow Jackets (4-1, 1-1 NE-10) are off to a great start in the 2013-14 campaign, most recently defeating Bloomfield College in a non-conference tilt last Saturday, 57-54. Down four at the half, AIC came back to tie it at the 10:14 mark of the second and after a few minutes of back-and-forth play the Yellow Jackets would finish it out. Sophomore center Sydney Tepley recorded a double-double, 13 points and 11 boards to lead AIC. She hit 9-of-12 from the free throw line, making the ones that count. Briana Bishop and Krista Ferrentino also posted double digit scoring numbers, 11 and 10. The Yellow Jackets arfe averaging 66.0 points-per-game, while allowing on average 65, keeping it close, but winning down the stretch.

ABOUT LE MOYNE: The Dolphins (5-1, 1-1 NE-10) have put up big numbers in the early going, notching 80 or more points three times and averaging 74.5 ppg. Le Moyne only allows 64.3 a game. Four Dolphins are averaging double-digit point averages; guard Alex Marple and forward Emily Greer 14.8 and 14.0, while forward Maggie Brown and guard Kayla Stroman are averaging 11.0 ppg. Le Moyne defeated Lincoln (Pa.) 70-59 in their last outing, led by Greer's 17.

LAST TIME THEY MET: AIC survived a surging second half Dolphin squad to win 57-50 on Nov. 28, 2012. Tepley led the Yellow Jackets with 13 points and 11 boards, while Alyssa Roach and Brianna Bishop tallied 11 points apiece. American International notched 42 rebounds as a team that led to 19 second chance points, where Le Moyne only managed five. The Dolphins were led by Lauren Price's 11 and Greer chipped in 10.

NEXT UP: The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday, December 7 when they host the Owls of Southern Connecticut. Tip-off slated for 1:30 p.m.

SETTING THE SCENE: The Yellow Jackets (3-4, 1-1 NE-10) return after the holiday break and head to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on the Le Moyne Dolphins at 7 p.m.

ABOUT AIC: The Yellow Jackets have lost a little sting due to injuries to start the season. As a team American International is averaging 67.6 points per-game while allowing 71.0. Four Yellow Jackets are averaging double-digit scoring, led my Bobby Harris' 16.0 ppg. Senior guard Janek Schmidkunz is not far behind with 14.4. Schmidkunz is also shooting 40 percent from three point range, hitting 27-of-67 attempts.

ABOUT LE MOYNE: The Dolphins (3-3, 1-1 NE-10) are led by Nate Champion who dominates Le Moyne, averaging 21.3 ppg, while averaging 40.5 minutes-per-game, more than a single regulation game. In their last outing, Wheeling Jesuit downed Le Moyne, 98-85. Champion led all scoring with 28, and notched team-highs of five boards and five assists.

LAST TIME THEY MET: AIC jumped on Le Moyne in the first half and cruised to a 65-51 victory on February 12, 2013. Schmidkunz and Ricky Hudson led the team with 18 points apiece. Schmidkunz hit six three-pointers, while the team tallied 17 fast break points, the Dolphins had none.
