Bobby Harris (Berlin, N.J.) led all socrers with 22 as the Yellow Jackets beat host LIU Post at their Invitational Sunday afternoon at Pratt Recreation Center.
With the win AIC improves to 1-1, while with the loss LIU Post falls to 0-2 to start the season.
Harris knocked down four from behind the arc to lead the team in scoring for the second game in-a-row. He was also 4-for-5 from the charity stripe to complete an efficient shooting performance. He also notched eight assists to lead the team.
The Yellow Jackets led by seven at the half, taking control with a 12-2 run to go up by 10.
American International would go up by as many as 16 in the second half, scoring 31 points off Pioneer turnovers.
Senior center
Mark Ellis Jr. (Stamford, Conn.) grabbed seven boards and was 4-for-8 from the floor with 11 points.
Senior guard
Jason Perrier (Bridgeport, Conn.) racked up 17, while classmate Janek Schmidjunz (Berlin, Germany) and junior
Al-Shabazz Jabateh (East Orange, N.J.) had 11.
Pioneer Vaugn Allen led all scoring with 25, but the Yellow Jackets capitalizing off Post turnovers was the difference, as well as hitting 20-of-24 free throws, 83.3 percent for the game.
AIC returns to action Froday, November 15 when they travel to the University of Tampa. Tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
