Ricky Hudson scored a game-high 20 points with six boards and two assists to lead AIC, helping him garner AIC's Athlete of the Week award. He leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 14.5 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding (5.5 rpg) and assists (34). Junior guard
Spencer Braithwaite is averaging 13.0 points and 2.1 rebounds per game and leads the team with 45 assists. Junior center
David Campbell is averaging 12.0 points and a team-best 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting a team-leading 51.0 percent from the field. The Yellow Jackets are averaging 69.1 points per game, while allowing opponents to score 68.1 points per contest. AIC got out to a 4-2 start to the season, but has struggled to get into the win column since, losing four of its last five games. Two of those setbacks were by a mere five points.
ABOUT UMASS LOWELL: The River Hawks are coming off a 69-63 loss at Southern New Hampshire Sunday, in which the Penmen went on an 11-1 run in the closing stages of the second half to secure the win. Antonio Bivins scored a game-high 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field and a 5-for-6 performance at the line to lead UMass Lowell. He is second on the team in scoring with 16.0 points per game and leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per contest while shooting a team-best 55.2 percent from the floor. Akeem WIlliams leads the team in scoring with 19.6 points per game to go with 3.7 boards per contest and a team-best 41 assists. Matt Welch is averaging 13.0 points per game. The River Hawks are averaging 77.2 points per game, while giving up 72.1 points per contest.
LAST MEETING: AIC was out scored 41-19 in the first half on its way to a 74-58 setback at UMass Lowell January 3, 2012. The River Hawks opened the game with a 13-3 run over the first 6:21 of the game and later used a 9-0 burst to open a commanding 33-13 advantage with 4:26 left in the opening frame. Sophomore guard Akeem Williams scored 18 points with four assists to lead the River Hawks, while junior forward Matt Welch added 16 points, four boards and three blocked shots. Braithwaite scored a game-high 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field with three threes and three free throws to lead the Yellow Jackets while also recording four assists, and two steals.
NEXT UP: The Yellow Jackets travel to Saint Anselm Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest and will then travel to Bentley Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. before returning home to face Saint Michael's January 19 at 3:30 p.m.
