SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—The Adelphi Panthers (5-8, 2-5 NE-10) were able to get around a stellar day out of senior guard Ricky Hudson (Sewell, N.J.) with a late 15-3 run as they defeated AIC men's basketball (5-6, 2-5 NE-10) by a final of 61-56.

AIC raced out to a 29-22 halftime lead thanks to an 8-0 run to close out the half that featured a pair of three-point baskets from Hudson and junior guard Janek Schmidkunz (Berlin, Germany) after Adelphi had gone on a 12-0 run of their own to take a 22-21 lead with 3:54 left in the half.

The teams traded leads in the second half as well, with four tie scores and seven lead changes in the frame until sophomore forward Duane Morgan (West Orange, N.J.) scored a bucket from the paint with 8:15 to go to give Adelphi a lead it would never relinquish, as the Yellow Jackets would manage just one basket from the floor after that point, a three from junior guard Spencer Braithwaite (Dorchester, Mass.) with 1:17 left in regulation.

Hudson led all scorers with 20 points for AIC, while Schmidkunz had nine points and a career-best eight rebounds for the Jackets, who next host UMass Lowell on January 9 at 7:30 PM.
