WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's ice hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision against Niagara University to close out the weekend series at the Olympia Ice Center. The Purple Eagles move to 13-3-4 overall and 12-0-1 in Atlantic Hockey, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 4-12-3 overall and 1-9-3 in the conference.
Sophomore center Chris Lochner (Alpharetta, Ga.) buried a shot at 7:19 in the second period to earn the 1-0 lead. Freshman right wing Dan Kolenda (Superior, Wisc.) found the back of the net one minute later to extend the Purple Eagles lead to 2-0.

Junior right wing Ryan Rashid (Farmington Hills, Mich.) scored an open net goal with one second remaining in the contest to give Niagara a 3-1 victory over the Yellow Jackets.

Ben Meisner (Halifax, N.S.) stopped 45 shots in the loss.
The Purple Eagles outshot AIC 48-26.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action at 7:05 p.m. on Friday night as they host Robert Morris in an Atlantic Hockey weekend series.
